December 2021William "Bill" Glen Smith, son of Milo Clifton and Ida Pearl (Driver) Smith was born October 16, 1933 in at the family farm near Peru, Iowa and passed from this life Friday, December 24, 2021 at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa at 88 years of age.
Bill grew up and attended country school near Peru, Truro and Murray. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Bill was united in marriage to Dorothy Ellen Olmsted on January 1, 1954 in Ft. Levenworth, MO and three children blessed this union. Bill was a farmer, farming in Clarke and Lucas Counties. He moved his family to their farm near Ottawa near Woodburn in Lucas County in 1966.
Bill loved life. He enjoyed his time with his family, especially his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. He enjoyed horses, raising and riding and teaching family how to enjoy and care for horses. Bill enjoyed spending time with friends, playing pool and cribbage. He was known to have lived his life "his way." He was loved and will be greatly missed.
Those relatives who preceded Bill in death were his wife, Dorothy, daughter, Pat Marker, son, David Smith, brothers, Russell, Paul, Victor, John, sisters, Florence, Virginia, Twyla, Dorothy, Mary, and Shirley.
William leaves to cherish his memory; son, Terry (Kathy) Smith of Osceola, IA, son-in-law, Rex Marker of Osceola, IA, grandson, Todd (Becky) Marker of Woodburn, IA, grandson, John "Shorty" Marker of Woodburn, IA, grandson, Chris Smith of Rapid City, SD, of numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, sisters, Marjorie Reynolds of Osceola, IA, Lucy (Danny) Stubbs of Corydon, IA, brothers, Donald Smith of Leon, IA, Kenneth Smith of Creston, IA as well as other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at Kale Funeral Home, Wednesday December 29, 2021 at 1:00 pm with Rev. James "Pete" R. Sheesley officiating.
His family will greet friends prior to the services on Wednesday, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Kale Funeral Home.
Casual attire is requested and welcome.
If you are unable to attend the service in person, a live stream will be available at kalefuneralhome.com on William's tribute wall beginning at 1:00 pm, Wednesday.
Interment will follow in the Woodburn Cemetery
