Winterset, IowaJohn Krohn, 73, passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, December 20, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 21, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Leah Krohn for a future memorial in John's name to benefit students in Winterset.
John William Krohn was born in Spencer, Iowa on October 15, 1948, the son of George Krohn and Violet (Struve) Krohn. He graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1966 and attended Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. He grew up in Sioux Rapids then moved to Storm Lake. After attending college, he moved to Albia, Iowa and later resided in Winterset in 1978. He married Leah TeBrink on June 10, 1972 in Alton, Iowa.
John was a teacher. He taught at Albia, DMACC and retired from Winterset Schools in 2005.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George (Dorothy) Krohn and Violet Krohn; and a sister, Jeanette Krohn.
He is survived by his wife, Leah Krohn; sons, Christopher (Carrie) Krohn and Nathan (Christine) Krohn; daughter, Jennifer (Scott) Schiefelbein; brother, Jim (Jeanne) Krohn; sisters, Ruby Grunig and Kristen (Terry) Thompson; and eight grandchildren, Alyssa Krohn, Brentyn Krohn, Grace Kirby, Neva Kirby, William Schiefelbein, Wyatt Schiefelbein, George Krohn, and Charlie Krohn.
