Fred M. Day

Fred M. Day, 64 of Stuart passed away on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Unity Point Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, December 4th at the Johnson Family Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 9 A.M. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Fred Day Memorial Fund.

Fred was born on August 16, 1957 to Scott and Florence (Morford) Day Jr at the Dexter Hospital. He grew up on the family farm outside of Earlham. He attended Earlham Schools and graduated with the class of 1975. He worked at Eagle Iron and spent most of his working years driving a truck. On October 11, 1975 he was united in marriage to Karla Summy at the Penn Center Church. The couple was blessed with two sons, Jeremy and Jason. Sever years later, Fred was blessed by the birth of his daughter Kaiti. They made their home outside of Earlham before lastly moving to Stuart.

In his spare time, Fred was a skilled dirt track racer winning several track championships at the Stuart Speedway. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, bowling and hunting. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Karla; and brother, Morgan Day.

He leaves behind his children: Jeremy Day, Jason (Julia) Day and Kaiti (Jeff) Culp; adopted daughter, Rachel (Lonnie) Patrick; grandchildren: Shelby, Zachery, Jaylon, Delanie, Dean, Allison, Rodney and Kaitlyn; siblings: Scott Day III, Lynn Margheim, Jack Day and Jon Day; and a host of extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.
