Patricia “Patty Banks” Harsh, age 84, of Adel, passed away at Adel Acres, under the care of Hospice of the Midwest, on Sunday, September 26, 2021.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home - McCalley Chapel in Adel. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Adel. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 1, 2021, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home - McCalley Chapel in Adel. Family will greet friends from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Family will also greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday.

Patty was born on January 31, 1937, in Winterset, Iowa, to Patrick and Irene (Davis) Banks. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1955. Patty married Gerald “Skip” Harsh on August 24, 1957.

Patty went to Iowa State Teachers College, now UNI, graduating in 1957, and continued her education throughout her career. She taught for 2 years in Urbandale, and 37 years in Adel, in Elementary Education.

After retirement, she spent time with her family and her grandchildren. She was involved in Adel Womens’ Club, T.T.T and the Adel First Christian Church. Patty loved to read, cross stich, do crafts, gardening, antiquing, playing with her bridge club and loved her pet dogs.

Patty is survived by her children, Sandra (Jeff) McVey of Blue Earth, Minnesota, Jeffrey (Jill) Harsh of Adel, and Jennifer (Corey) Dailey of Sioux City; close family friend, Noel Edwards of Phoenix, Arizona; 6 grandchildren, Kyle (Kaylie) Wallace and Heidiann (Billy) Campbell, Trevor and Nolan Harsh, and Austin and Nathaniel Agnitsch; 8 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Marjorie Paullin; and her brother, Wallace Dick.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the ADM (Adel) Scholarship Foundation or to the Winterset Alumni Association.
