Barbara Jeanne (Robin) Jeneary

Barbara Jeanne (Robin) Jeneary, age 96, moved on to her next great adventure on July 6, 2021.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 PM Friday, July 9, 2021, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home Winterset Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, July 10, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral in Des Moines. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery. Robin, as she was known, was born on August 11, 1924 on the family farm near Carson, Iowa to George P. and Val (Fenn) Killinger. She graduated Carson High School and attended Drake University where she met the love of her life, Delmar T. Jeneary. They were united in marriage on September 7, 1946 at the family farm and were the proud parents of Deborah, Tom and Scott.

Del was a school superintendent and the family made several moves over the years, beginning in Winterset, Elkhart, IN, then to Tennant, Mitchellville, Grand Junction, Oxford Junction and finally West Liberty, all but one in Iowa. They moved back to Winterset in 1994 where they lived for the remainder of their lives.

Robin was a great mover and her nickname was “the packer”, due to her amazing skills at packing many items in a small area. She was a school secretary in Tennant and Mitchellville and worked for many years at the library in West Liberty. She was an unbelievably fast typist.

Robin was a wonderful cook, an accomplished seamstress and a phenomenal quilter. One of her greatest joys was to have made a hand-stitched quilt for all her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and brothers and sister. She also made many beautiful wall hangings which she graciously shared with many people.

Robin was a 78-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a State Grand Officer. She held almost all of the positions in Eastern Star and was Worthy Matron for many years. She was still very proficient in the ritual work.

Robin loved to play cards, especially Bridge and Hand and Foot. She enjoyed family vacations and the yearly trip to Denver to see her sister, Virginia. She traveled to London, England twice to visit her son, Scott when he lived there.

Robin is survived by her children, Deborah Bergstrom of Winterset, Dr. Tom and Pam Jeneary of Le Mars and Scott Jeneary of Waukee; grandchildren, Dr. Greg and Anne Jeneary of Le Mars, Phil and Lindee Jeneary of Waukee; great grandchildren, Megan and Jacob Jeneary and Raegan and Carson Jeneary; sister-in-law, Ann Killinger of Carson; and several nieces and nephews.

Robin was preceded in death by her husband Del; her parents; siblings, George (Bud) Killinger and his wife, Miriam, Phil Killinger, and Virginia and her husband, Mort; three grandsons, Ted Bergstrom, Steven and Michael Jeneary; and son-in-law, Dr. Thomas Bergstrom.
