Winterset, IowaWayne Hill, 89 of Winterset, lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, June 19, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
Wayne was born May 12, 1932, in Van Meter, Iowa to John and Lura (Lenocker) Hill. He was the second youngest of eight children. Wayne married Naomi Root on February 4, 1955, during a snowstorm in West Des Moines. They celebrated 66 wonderful, storm free years.
Wayne and Naomi purchased 160 acres of farmland east of Winterset in March 1956 and have lived there since. Wayne’s first love was Naomi and his family, second was farming. He supplemented his farming career with working at Marquette Cement and PDM in Des Moines.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi, sister, Sue Moore, children: Teresa Hill Rogers, Linda Hill Vadel (Kraig), Brian Hill (Holly), Shari Hill Ukleja (Eric), 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
The family is holding a private celebration of life service.
