MILDRED “MILLIE” HAWKINS
1920 – 2005

Mildred Maxine “Millie” Hawkins, 85, of Kalona, formerly of Ainsworth, died Sunday, August 14, 2005 in Pleasantview Home, Kalona, following a lengthy illness.

Services were Wednesday, August 17, in Jones Eden Funeral Home, Washington, with the Reverend David Yoder officiating. Burial was in Oregon Township cemetery, Ainsworth.

Born March 3, 1920 in St. Charles, she was the daughter of Eli Henry and Lois Ellen (Simpson) Miller. She attended school in Truro.

She was united in marriage to Laird “Doc” Hawkins August 21, 1946 in Troy, Kansas.

Mrs. Hawkins enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, family get-togethers and playing cards.

Survivors include three children, Lois Cooper of Ingalls, Indiana, Larry and wife Lois Hawkins of Coralville and Jerry and wife Shari Hawkins of Kalona; 13 grandchildren; one step-grandson; 19 great-grandchildren; one sister, Dollie Felton of Grinnell; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, who died August 6, 1974; one son, Jimmie Lee Hawkins; five sisters and two brothers.

Memorials may be directed to Pleasantview Home, Kalona.

Jones Eden Funeral Home, Washington, in charge of arrangements.
