Mrs. Douglas C. Lord of Santa Paula, Calif., formerly of Winterset, died Sunday, Aug 24, at Kaiser hospital in Los Angeles, after an extended illness. She was 55 years of age.
Mrs. Lord was the former Geraldine Deardorff of Winterset. She was born Nov. 22, 1910, in Pierre, S. Dak., only child of Ezra S. and Bess Humphreys Deardorff. Much of her early life was spent in Winterset, during the years her parents operated the Club café here.
She went to California in 1936, and had lived at Santa Paula since 1964.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas C. Lord; and three daughters, Rachel, Susan and Jessica Lord, all of Santa Paula.
Following cremation, memorial services were held Aug. 27 from Forest Lawn Memorial park in Glendale, in charge of the Rev. John Messer of the Hollywood Congregational church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ventura County chapter of the American Cancer society.
