Stacey Dean Alger

Stacey Dean Alger passed away unexpectedly on May 7, 2021 in Winterset, Iowa.

Stacey was born to the late Darrell and Patricia (Oliver) Alger in Spencer, Iowa on June 25, 1968. He grew up in Dickens, Iowa where he enjoyed all of the perks of small-town living. His favorite job growing up was building grain bins with his dad and he made sure everyone knew it! He graduated from South Clay High School in 1986 where he played baseball and football. Stacey was a Desert Storm veteran while serving honorably for 10 years in the United States Air Force and honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1996.

After his retirement from the Air Force he worked in the aerospace industry in Washington where he welcomed his daughter Raeni Lynn Alger in 1993, she changed his world. In 2000, Stacey was lucky enough to welcome Jeremy Adam Watford as his son. Stacey moved back home to Iowa in 2003 and shortly after he began his 17-year career at John Deere. He resided in Winterset when he came back from the west coast and loved every aspect of country living. He met his wife, Teri (McFarland) Alger after a mutual friend suggested they might just be “meant to be”. After dating for 3 years they were finally married on January 31, 2021 at which time he gained additional daughters in Haylie McFarland and Hannah Mason.

Stacey was a quiet and humble man but if there was one thing he was not scared to be vocal about, it was his love for his family and friends. He leaves behind his wife, Teri (McFarland) Alger; son, Jeremy Watford; daughter, Raeni Alger; step-daughters, Haylie McFarland and Hannah Mason; siblings, Gina Hampshire, Jeff Alger, and Bruce (Pam) Main; grandchildren, Elias Lewis, Kinsley Davis, and Kyrie Lewis; nieces, Jennie Hartz and Lily Alger; nephews, Nick Roach and Josh (Teighlor) Roach; great nephews, Jager, Austin, and Owen; great nieces, Melody, Rockelle, and Emily; and great great niece, Avery. He also gained an entire extended family of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and one very special mother-in-law, Donna, when he married Teri and condidered his close friends family as well.

Stacey’s favorite topic of conversation was his memories with his siblings and nieces and nephews. He could tell you most any detail about any of them because even when you thought he wasn’t paying attention, he was. He never thought he would marry but Teri is so thankful he changed his mind. Because of him, her world was finally complete.

Stacey was preceded in death by his loving parents as well as his father-in-law, Paul McFarland.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 10th from 5-8 pm at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Winterset, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, May 11th , at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home followed by military services and burial at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at 12:30 pm.

All are welcome to gather for lunch following the burial at the Van Meter Legion Hall in Van Meter. Memorials may be directed to his family for a future designation.
