Dallas Blair

Kelly Dallas Blair of Winterset, Iowa was born at Creston, Iowa on September 13, 1985 to Darrell and Sharyl Blair.

Dallas lived in Macksburg for the first few years of his life then moved to Creston. At the age of 5 he moved from Creston to Winterset where he attended Winterset schools and graduated from Winterset High School in 2004. He was active in many sports during high school and was on the all-star baseball team. Dallas also participated in football, wrestling and golf.

Dallas passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 5, 2021.

Dallas did drywall and many other jobs in high school, then worked his way up acquiring certifications in water distribution after he graduated. He was most recently laying hardwood floors for Allwood Flooring. He made many friends along the way in his careers and made a name for himself as a hard worker.

Dallas acquired lifelong friends as he grew up. He met Betsy during his high school years and they fell in love. After 7 years of dating, Betsy and Dallas had Alice Blair, the joy of his life, in 2010. A year later Betsy and Dallas got married. In 2016 William Blair was born, and little Bill completed his family. Dallas and Betsy spent 16 years together growing and building their family. Dallas was a devoted father and dedicated his life to his children.

Dallas was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Phillip Smith and Lee Blair; and stepbrother, Memphis Ripperger.

Dallas is survived by his grandmothers, Alice Brown and Karen Smith; father, Darrell (Carolyn) Blair; mother, Sharyl (Kelly Kasal) Smith; stepfather, Jeff (Alison) Coffman; children, Alice Blair and William “Bill” Blair; brothers, David Blair and Drue Coffman; stepbrother, Josh Kraack; sister, Brooke Wirtz; and stepsisters, Kristina Benshoof, Kayle Young, and Kinzey Ripperger.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 11, from 5-7pm at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home Winterset Chapel. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Wednesday, May 12, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home Winterset Chapel with burial in Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to his family for a future designation.

There will be a luncheon for friends and family held at the American Legion Hall following the committal service at the cemetery.
