Sarah Elizabeth Drake was born in Madison county, Iowa, November 6, 1864 and died at her home in Adair County, Iowa, June 7, 1917, aged 52 years, seven months and two days.
She was the daughter of John and Amanda Drake, the sixth in a family of seven children. On March 4, 1880 she and John L. Garrett were united in marriage. Three daughters were born to this union.
Those left to mourn her death are her husband, the three daughters, Mrs. Edna Piper, of Adair county, Iowa; Mrs. Essie Small, of Hobson, Montana; and Mrs. Gladys Roberts, of Adair county, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Ella J. Garrett, two brothers, William M. and Everett E., all residing in Madison county and other relatives and many friends.
She was a loving wife and mother, a good neighbor and friend. Optimistic, thoughtful of those around her, she lived a useful happy life. Her absence is deeply felt by relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted from the late home on Friday afternoon by Rev. Grigsby of West Star. Interment was made in the Roberts cemetery.
