Shirley Ann Bailey, 94, of Macksburg, Iowa, passed away Friday, March 26, 2021 at Castel Rock Adventist Hospital in Castle Rock, Colorado. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center in Creston, with Deacon Sam Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Moon Cemetery, Macksburg, Iowa. Open viewing will be from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2021 at the funeral home. The family request mask be worn during the service and visitation. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
Shirley Ann (Wellman) Bailey the daughter of George and Mary (Moore) Wellman was born on September 13, 1926 in Colorado. She attended school in Englewood, Colorado. On March 23, 1943 she married Leonard Warren Bailey in Alameda, California.
Shirley worked as a line worker at the Samsonite Luggage factory for 25 years. After her retirement, the family moved to Macksburg, Iowa in 1984, where Shirley owned and operated the Bailey Café for many years. Shirley was also a devoted caretaker for her daughter, Dianne.
Shirley loved to tend to her flowers and take care of her yard. She was always very meticulous in her work and her yard showed it. She loved to go on drives and long road trips with her daughters. Shirley also made it a point to keep up the appearance of her family’s gravesites. Shirley will forever be remembered as a hard worker and having a deep love for her grandchildren.
Left to cherish Shirley’s memory is her daughter, Chris Steinbach and husband David of Sedalia, Colorado; twelve grandchildren: Kenny, Bobby, Todd, Troy, Wade, Stacy, Renae, Mandy, Branden, Andrea, Gary and Scott; 21 great-grandchildren and nine great great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary; daughters, Dianne and Carol; son, Gary; son-in-law, Ken and several brothers and sisters.
