KILLS TWO CHILDREN CUTS OWN THROAT

William Mckeever Crazed By Debt. Runs Amuck With Hammer

A farmer broken by financial worries slew a son and daughter with a hammer Saturday, beat his wife and another son severely and then committed suicide.

The dead are William E. McKeever, 43, respected resident near Appleton, Minnesota, his son, 12, and daughter, 14. The son and daughter had been shot as well as beaten.

Mrs. McKeever and a son, 21, were in a serious condition but were expected to recover.

Mr. McKeever slashed his throat with a razor.

Relatives asserted the farmer had been despondent over money matters.

William McKeever was the son of J. B. McKeever, well known citizen of Grand River township. Another son, Oliver, suicided by hanging about ten years ago.

William McKeever moved from Madison county about twenty years ago. His wife is a daughter of Theo Armstrong, former prosperous citizen of Union township who lives near Appleton. J. B. McKeever and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Thomas went to Minnesota to attend the funerals.
