DR. SHINN FOUND DEAD AT VAN METER

Dr. George B. Shinn, Van Meter veterinary, was found dead in his car near the east edge of Van Meter February 14 by John Hazen who, seeing the doctor’s car in the ditch and investigating, found the body. Dr. Shinn was 39, and had not been well for some time although able to take care of his practice.

He was born near Streator, Illinois, March 18, 1893. His widow was Doris Craven who, with two children, Jack and Jerry, survive. Fred Shinn of Laredo, Texas and a sister, Mrs. Fan Riley of Creston, also survive.

Dr. Shinn was a graduate of the Kansas City Veterinary college and had lived in Van Meter since 1924, locating at Macksburg at the close of the World war.

The Rev. Peterson conducted the services February 16 at the Van Meter Methodist church and burial with military rites was made in the Van Meter cemetery.
