Clive - Wilbur Gamble, 90, passed away peacefully at Woodlands Creek on December 6, 2020. Due to COVID, a private family service will be held at McLaren's Resthaven Chapel. The family invites Wilbur's friends to join them via Facebook Livestream.
Wilbur was born to Cleo and Gladys (Hays) Gamble on December 14, 1929 in Madison County, IA. He graduated from St. Charles High School in 1947. Wilbur enlisted in the United States Army in 1953 and served his country for two years. A few months after enlisting, Wilbur was united in marriage to Elizabeth Woodard on September 25, 1953 in Maxwell, IA.
Wilbur will be remembered for his love of gardening and growing roses, fishing, beanbag baseball, working on the farm, puzzles, and coloring. His grandchildren will always remember him singing "You Are My Sunshine" to them.
Wilbur is survived by his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth of Clive, IA; daughter, Deb Hotchkiss of West Des Moines, IA; son, Ronald (Vickie) Gamble of Knoxville, IA; grandchildren, Melinda (Doug) Sutherland of Harvey, IA, Mike (Rechelle) Gamble of Knoxville, IA, David (Jessica) Hotchkiss of Indianola, IA, and Sarah (Danny) Dowd of Ankeny, IA; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Cassidie, and Nattilie Billiter of Harvey, IA, Cameron and Isabella Sutherland of Harvey, IA, Kason, Kolton, and Lane Gamble of Knoxville, IA, and Lydia Hotchkiss of Indianola, IA; siblings, Delores Gamble of St. Charles, IA, Marge Seward of Nampa, ID, Jeanne (Jerold) White of Norwalk, IA, Don (Jan) Gamble of Oklahoma City, OK, and Patricia Reeves of Republic, MO; sister-in-laws, Jeanie Gamble of St. Charles, IA, Gloria (Bill) Stewart of Urbandale, IA, Judy Gamble of Oklahoma City, OK, and Ellen Kueker of Norwalk, IA; brother-in-law, Clyde Neal of Springhill, IA, half-brothers and sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
Wilbur is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Edythe Johnston, Helen Howard, Robert Gamble, John Gamble, Dorothy Neal, Jim Gamble, and Raymond Gamble; and great-granddaughter, Lillie Billiter.
Memorial contributes for Wilbur Gamble can be made out to his family for later distribution.
