Death of Henry Kensler

Henry Kensler was born in this county April 13, 1858, and died June 12, 1898, having lived forty years, one month and 29 days. He spent his boyhood days in Madison county, and was married to Clidona Wright (Wight), of Adair county, September 21 1882. He leaves his wife, two daughters and an aged mother, with other relatives and friend to mourn the loss.

Brother Kensler was a good husband and a loving father, an upright citizen and a Christian gentleman. He became a Christian in October 1897 and was a consistent member of the Church of Christ at Winterset till his death, and is now enjoying the reward of the faithful.

The funeral services were conducted by the writer, June 14 at the residence, in the presence of a large company of relatives and friends; after which a long procession followed his remains to the beautiful cemetery at Winterset where they are now at rest. Thus did the sun of Henry Kensler’s life set at noon, but it went down amid the rose tinted clouds of peace, in the light of whose reflected glory the eye of faith beholds the burnished gates of day.

The tendency of a Christian life is upward. Such was his.

Upward through doubts and fears;
Upward through smiles and tears;
Upward through endless years;
To the New Jerusalem
