Tom was born on July 10, 1959 to Donald and Alice (Dimon) Scheeler in Fairfield, Iowa. He graduated from Washington High School in 1977. After graduation, Tom farmed for a few years in the Brighton area, where he was also a member of the Brighton Volunteer Fire Department. Once he moved to Winterset, he became a member of the Winterset Volunteer Fire Department for 11 years; in addition to working for John Deere for nearly 25 years.

Tom was an avid collector. He had a large collection of guns, Hesston Belt Buckles, John Deere precision tractors, fire convention trucks and any firefighting memorabilia he could get his hands on. Tom enjoyed getting outdoors and hunting with his brothers and friends. He had a passion for farming, whether he was talking about agriculture or out working in the fields, he loved it all. Most importantly, Tom loved his family.

Tom is survived by his daughter, Whitney Scheeler; grandson, Ryder Hartsell; siblings, Gary Scheeler, Linda (John) Colbert, and Jim Scheeler; nephews, Mitch Scheeler, and Alex Scheeler; nieces, Erin Leyden, and Lori Long; and many great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald “Doc” and Alice Scheeler; and grandparents, Myrtle Scheeler, and Blanche and Harrison Dimon.

Memorials may be made out to the Winterset Volunteer Fire Department in memory of Tom.
