Winterset, IowaJoyce Marie Allsup, 82, of Peru, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at the Greater Regional Hospice House in Creston.
She was born in Winterset, Iowa, on July 28, 1938, the daughter of Alec and Florence Walker.
Joyce graduated from Winterset High School. She married Earl Jr. Allsup February 7, 1958 in Winterset, and they were married for 62 years. They were the parents of two daughters, Vickey and Sherry. Joyce worked alongside Jr. on the family farm. She also worked at Bethesda Care Center (now Azria Health Center) in housekeeping, and later worked at the Winterset Schools in the school lunch program. On August 4, 2009, Joyce had a terrible accident at her home that left her paralyzed, and her life was forever changed.
She always enjoyed the horses, watching the girls in school and 4-H activities, and camping. She liked joking around, and loved spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Earl Jr. Allsup; daughter, Vickey (Ike) Davis; grandchild, Luke Johnson; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Cameron, Anna and Carley; brother, Tom Walker; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Alec and Florence Walker; daughter, Sherry Hutchison; grandchild, R.C. Johnson; brothers, Leon, Richard, Nicky, Freddy and Ronald Walker; and sister, Doris Weller.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in the Winterset Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation.
