December 2020Jack Loren Boughton, 76, of Van Meter passed away from complications of congestive heart failure at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines on Thursday, December 10, 2020.
A public visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 14, 2020 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. A limited number of guests will be allowed in the building at one time and all guests in attendance will be required to wear a face covering and practice social distancing. A private family funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2020. Burial will follow the service at the St. Charles Cemetery.
Jack was born on July 3, 1944 to Loren Hank and Garnetta Mae Boughton. He graduated from Van Meter High School in 1962. After graduation, he went on to work at Goodyear Tires for 29 years and ended his career with Allied Oil and Tire Company. Although he worked other jobs, farming was his passion and he enjoyed his time spent on the farm.
Growing up, Jack was a member of the 4H, FFA, Lee Club and Boy Scouts. He was involved as a member of the Booneville United Methodist Church, Rotary Club, breakfast club and played in a pool league. Jack loved living on his farm, going horseback riding, country music, and raising cattle. Jack was always a cowboy at heart. He enjoyed all of his Border Collies and Schnauzers he had over the years, especially his current dogs, Buster, Baby, and Hank. He was a self-made man, hard worker, dedicated father, and lived life to the fullest.
Jack is survived by his mother, Garnetta Mae Strable Boughton; children, Brenda Jean Mataya, Gwendolen (John) Berlin, and Brent Loren (Stephanie) Boughton; former wife, Jean Boughton; grandchildren, Megan Mataya, Tiffani Raby, Alex Mitchell, Mackenzie Mataya, and Chase Mitchell; great grandchildren, Brecken Oberembt and Ava Feeney; brother, Ronald Guy (Debbie) Boughton; and nephew, Addison (Melanie) Boughton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Loren “Hank” Boughton.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Booneville United Methodist Church or the Iowa Diabetes Research Center in memory of Jack.
