Pat Hoy, 84 of rural Redfield passed away Friday, December 4, 2020 at her home. Private family graveside service will be held at Wiscotta Cemetery, rural Redfield. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Pat Hoy Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be left at johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com.

Pat was born on February 8, 1936 to Arthur and Emma (Nelson) Schleiffarth in Earlham, Iowa. She grew up in Earlham and attended Earlham High School. She was united in marriage to Howard Hoy on March 8, 1958 in Earlham and together they became the proud parents of two sons, Randy and Tom. After their marriage they made their home on the family farm outside of Redfield where Pat helped Howard with the operations of the farm. She also worked at the grocery store in Earlham and the USDA office in Adel.

Pat enjoyed playing cards, watching the Chicago Bears, riding four-wheelers, fishing and farming. She treasured her time she was able to spend with her family especially helping her son farm and watching her granddaughters play sports in high school. Pat was also known for cooking her ham loaf for her harvest crew.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard; son, Tom Hoy in 1984; brother, Gene Schleiffarth; and brother-in-law, Bill Spowart.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Randy of Redfield; grandchildren: Nathan (Kristina) Fritz and their children Ava and Ethan; Rachel Hoy and Katherine Hoy; sister, Dorothy Spowart of Pella; sister-in-law, Eleanor Martin of West Des Moines and a host of extended family and friends that will miss her dearly.
