Kathryn Siddens, 79, of Afton, died Wednesday, December 02, 2020, at her home in Afton.

A Celebration of Life memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020, at the United Methodist Church in Afton. Pastor Jim Morris will officiate the service.

Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Afton.

Masks and social distancing are required. No public visitation will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be established. Online condolences can be made at powersfh.com.

Kathryn Jane (Austin) Siddens, daughter of Catherine Janice (Coe) Austin and Forrest Marion Austin, was born on January 19, 1941, in the Walnut Township of Madison County, Iowa. At the age of 11, her family came to Afton where her father ran Austin Auto Parts. Kathryn graduated valedictorian of her class of 1958 from Afton High School. She continued her education obtaining a Stenography Certificate, finishing the 11-month course at 4 C’s Business School in Des Moines in 28 weeks.

On June 19, 1960, Kathryn was united in marriage to Gary Lee Siddens at the Afton United Methodist Church. Kathryn and Gary built their current home in Afton where they raised their three children, Kathryn Lea, Jane Anne, and Andrew. Kathryn was employed for a short time with the City Hall office until 1974 when she began her career at Commercial Sate Bank. The bank was later purchased by First National Bank, and in 2006. Kathryn retired after 32 years. Kathryn later worked for Pat Lowenberg with whom she loved to work.

Kathryn was a member of the United Methodist Church in Afton, P.E.O., Beta Sigma Phi and card club with close friends.

Kathryn is survived by her husband Gary of Afton; two daughters, Kathryn “K’Lea” (Phillip) Johnson of Afton and Jane Anne Eklund of Afton; son Andrew (Teri) Siddens of Afton; six grandchildren, Katie (Bo) Kibling of Harrison, AR, Jordan (Elizabeth) Siddens of Nevada, IA, Siddney (Zac) Huddleson of Macksburg, IA, Jerod Eklund of Lorimor, IA, Jessi (Michael) Bentley of Diagonal, IA, Jacy (Cazlynn) Eklund of Ames, IA, Madison and Mallory Johnson of Yipe, KS; 12 great-grandchildren; brother Alan (Kathy) Austin of Afton; sisters, Beth Gray of Winterset, Virginia Roberts of Ozark, MO, Nancy (Lanny) Hofmeister of Creston, and Mary (Wayne) Hill of Afton; brother-in-law Denny Larimer of Apple Valley, MN.; along with extended relatives and many friends.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law Harry and Juanita Siddens; brothers Marion Austin and Gary Austin; sister Linda Larimer; brothers-in-law Chuck Gray, Dick Roberts, and Stephen Eckels; and one niece Laneé Austin.
