Mary Jo Lull was born on September 12, 1934 to Robert and Blanche Lull in Patterson, IA. She graduated from Patterson High School in 1952. Not long after graduation, she was united in marriage to Max Jay Tucker on June 29, 1952. The two would go on to share 66 wonderful years of marriage together.
Mary Jo loved spending time with her family. This was evident as she enjoyed watching the Gaither Gospel Hour every week with Max, going to open house tours with her son, Randal, to see how others decorated their homes, and reading stories to her grandkids. She was also known to be a good cook, as her chicken and noodles, along with buttermilk cookies were a common request at her house. Her beautifully decorated cakes were a real source of pride for her.
Mary Jo was a creator who was constantly looking to produce something beautiful in the lives of those around her. In her younger years she was a member of the Garden Club and was always pleased when her flower beds produced a showy display. She loved keeping up with home décor trends and also enjoyed decorating her home for whatever the current holiday. A master seamstress, she used her family to express her artistic bent. Whether creating matching red and white seersucker outfits for her young family or running off costumes for Halloween or school plays, she was always quick with her trusty Singer.
