Clarence E. Hoots, 85, of 2712 Thirtieth St., died of pneumonia Friday at Des Moines General Hospital after a one-week illness.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home. Burial will be in Winterset Cemetery at Winterset.

Born in Cooksmill, Ill., Mr. Hoots lived in Des Moines for 54 years. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Union Park Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Irene; a son, Clyde of West Des Moines; a sister, Mrs. Mernia Leinard of Des Moines, and five grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Polk county Heart Association.
