Page 3, Column 1Edward Welty, 71, Sioux City, died at a hospital Wednesday after an illness of two years.
Mr. Welty was born December 26, 1884, at Winterset, Ia. He married Lura Simpson at Winterset and they located at Hornick in 1926. After farming three years they moved to Sioux City in 1929. Mr. Welty had lived here since that time. Mrs. Welty died in 1935.
Survivors include seven daughters, Mrs. Eva Lecocq of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Faye Harrison of Hornick, Mrs. Freda Chilton of Lawton, Mrs. Mabel Davis of Moville, Mrs. Helen Shields of Chula Vista, Cal., Mrs. Flossie McCoy of Seattle and Mrs. Maxine Wanderscheid of Sioux City; four sons, Edwin of Anthon, Lyle of Moville, and six great-grandchildren.
The body was taken to the W. Harry Christy funeral home in Morningside.

Page 18, Column 4Funeral services for Edward Welty, 71, Sioux City, who died at a hospital after a two year illness, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Methodist church in Macksburg, Ia. Burial will be in the Macksburg cemetery under the direction of the W. Harry Christy funeral home of Sioux City.
________________________Coordinator's note: Although his gravestone and this obituary say he was born in 1884, his Iowa Delayed Certificate of Birth and his WWI Draft Registration say 1885 and he was not in the 1885 Iowa State Census which included persons born in 1884.
