On Sunday November 1st 2020, our dad, brother, relative and friend, Vic Porter went to be with the Lord. Vic was born January 1st, 1939 in Osceola, IA, to Roberta and Ralph Porter of Truro Iowa.
A celebratory gathering in honor of his life will be held Saturday November 7th at 10:30 at Calvary Baptist Church in St. Charles, IA (If you attend, please mask up).
Vic was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Roberta Porter (Proudfoot), sister and brother in-law Margaret and Bud Cronk as well as his grandson Joshua Kissinger.
He is survived by his siblings Virginia McClelland (Porter), Sandra Chittenden (Porter), Rob Porter, Pam Knapp (Porter), and his five children Laura Warren (Porter), James Victor Porter, Danny Ray Porter, Victoria Porter and Charles Porter. Additionally, he has 5 grandchildren (Ishmael, Jeremy, Jessie, Amory and Seth) and 1 great granddaughter (Everly). As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He attended and graduated from Truro Consolidated School, Truro, Iowa with the Class of 1957. Most of his life, Vic did tree service which allowed his lifestyle and love of travel, which he imparted to his oldest daughter. He once hitchhiked from California to Colorado in a wheelchair (with casts on both legs) after having foot surgery. Even in his older age, he astounded folks swinging from tree limb to tree limb while trimming trees. His travels took him from Iowa, to Colorado, to California and to Mulege, Mexico and many places in between; but his favorite spot on earth was his property in Lander, WY where he lived most of his life. He had to leave Wyoming and his last four years was spent at Golden Age Nursing Home in Centerville, Iowa.
