Page 7A, Column 1Henry J. Wonderlin of Indianola, formerly of St. Charles, died on Saturday, Feb. 3, at the age of 83. Services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial at the St. Charles Cemetery and a memorial mass at the Church of Assumption at Churchville.

Wonderlin, 83, who died Saturday, February 3, 2007, at the Indianola Good Samaritan Center will be held 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 6, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will follow in the St. Charles Cemetery. A memorial mass will be held 12:30 p.m. at the Church of Assumption at Churchville.
Born in Colfax, he grew up in Martensdale. Henry was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Des Moines. He served in the United States Navy Seabees during World War II. He was a retired farmer. Hobbies were flying, go-cart racing, country music, dancing and garage sales.
Surviving are his wife Opal of Indianola; two sons, Jerome (Kathy) Wonderlin of rural Prole and Doug (Jane) Wonderlin of Ankeny; one daughter Kathryn (Dennis) Hart of Ankeny; three step-daughters Diane (Kelly) Clevenger and Brenda (Les) Gavin, both of rural Indianola and Berta (Rodney) Heemstra; 6 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild; 8 step-grandchildren; and 3 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Wilma in May, 1982.
Visitation will be held 5:30-7:30 p.m., Monday, February 5, at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends. Memorials may be given to Fairview Christian Union Church or Church of Assumption.
