Services for Charles McDowell Buchanan, 71, of 3428 S.W. Twelfth St., will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Baptist Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in a cemetery in St. Charles, where he was born.

Mr. Buchanan died Thursday at Iowa Methodist Hospital after a 10-day illness.

He had lived in Des Moines about 20 years and was a retired watchman.

He is survived by his wife, Bula; two sons, Charles and William, both of Indianola; two sisters, Mrs. Beulah Anderson of St. Charles and Mrs. Hazel Warren of Des Moines; and six grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Trinity Baptist Church building fund.

The body is at Colonial Funeral Chapel.
