James “Pat” Brice, 74, of 2442 Logan Ave. died of a respiratory ailment Saturday at Veterans Medical Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Irish Settlement Cemetery.

Mr. Brice was a lifelong resident of Des Moines and was a retired truck mechanic and apartment manager. He served in the Army and was a member of the American Legion and Machinists Union.

Survivors include a son, Jim of Des Moines; five brothers, Earl of Hutchinson, Minn., Ed of Boone, Don of Ames, Bob of Ankeny and Tom of Iowa City; three sisters, Mary Jane Gilbreth of Cedar Rapids, Alice Lowe of Ames and Patricia Brice of Des Moines; and a grandchild.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Monday at Caldwell-Brien-Robbins Funeral Home, where a vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Monday.
