DEN GARRETT DIES IN MINNEAPOLIS

Denman Garrett, 77, member of the old Garrett family of Ohio township, died at his home in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Friday. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters. His brothers, Thomas of Winterset, Harry of Boone, and Robert of Lorimor, attended the funeral. Mrs. Garrett was Lillian Welch, a teacher in the Winterset schools from 1880 to 1883.

“Den” Garrett came to Winterset from Ohio township in 1880 as a clerk. He learned the dry goods business from his brother, Walker, and went with him to Minneapolis, where they opened a dry goods store. He has been retired for several years and owned a fine farm on the outskirts of the city.
