1911-2009Cecil L. Chace, 98, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009 in Yuma of natural causes.
Cecil was born April 25, 1911 in Davison, South Dakota. Cecil graduated from Winterset High School in 1931. He attended Grand Island Business College and Boeing School of Aeronautics. Cecil was an instructor, mechanic, a pilot with TWA (Delta) and the Army Air Corps. Cecil enjoyed traveling during retirement with his wife of 60 years, flying, and spending time with his family and rock hounding.
Cecil is survived by his son-in-law Stanley Phillips of Yuma; grandsons Jerry Phillips of Somerton; Rick (Cheryl) Phillips of Yuma; great-grandson Justin (Stacie) Phillips of Yuma, great-granddaughters Ashley Phillips and Darcy Phillips of Yuma; great-great-grandson Dylan Chace Phillips of Yuma; two grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Cecil was preceded in death by his wife Lydia Chace, parents Franklin and Nola Chace, daughter Janice Phillips, brothers Clarence Chace and Hubert Chace, sisters Beatrice Chace and Laura Chace.
Visitation will be held July 5, 2009, 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Desert Valley Mortuary. Graveside services will be at 9 :00 a.m. on July 6, 2009 at Desert Lawn Memorial Park. Services will be officiated by Rick Phillips.
