Matthew Gene Henkle, 48 of Earlham passed away on Monday, August 31, 2020 at Unity Point – Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 10 A.M. to 12 Noon on Saturday, September 12th at the Earlham Church of Christ. Celebration of life service will follow at 12 Noon. Burial will be at the Earlham City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Matthew Henkle Memorial Fund.
Matthew was born on May 12, 1972 to Larry and Diane (Stanley) Henkle in Dexter, Iowa. He grew up in Earlham and attended Earlham Schools. Following his schooling Matthew worked a variety of jobs lastly at Casey’s in Earlham. The most important thing in Matthew’s life was Colton, Seth and his love for his family. He loved to be outdoors especially fishing, mushroom hunting and arrowhead hunting. He enjoyed collecting shot glasses picking one up anywhere he would travel. Most of all Matthew was known as being a “one-of-a-kind” and his love of “fast cars and women”.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Delma Henkle and his maternal grandparents, Pete and Joyce Stanley.
Matthew leaves behind his son, Colton Henkle of Earlham and Seth (Mikayla) Schroeder of North Carolina; grandchildren, Ryker and Shawn Schroeder; mother, Diane Crawford of Greenfield; father, Larry Henkle of Earlham; sister, Angie (Scooter) Jorgensen of Earlham; niece, Ashley Jorgensen; nephew, Jacob Jorgensen and a host of extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.
