Creston, IowaDesiree K. Perrin-Abell, 53, of Orient died at her home on August 18, 2020. Celebration of life services will be held 9:00 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2020 at the United Methodist Church in Macksburg, Iowa. Social distancing will be observed and masks will be provided and are recommended. Pastor Ben Carter-Allen and Chaplain Mike Albert will officiate the service. Services will be viewable via live stream through the Powers Funeral Home Creston/Afton Facebook page. Burial will at Moon Cemetery, south of Macksburg. Open visitation will be from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday with family receiving friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Memorials are suggested to her family. Desiree Kay Perrin-Abell was born April 18, 1967, in Cedar Rapids, IA., to Wilma Lorraine (Andersen) Perrin and Robert Hollis Perrin. Desiree graduated from Orient-Macksburg High School with the class of 1985. She was part of 3 state qualifying teams in basketball and softball and qualified for State Track while attending Orient-Macksburg. She furthered her education at Southwestern Community College receiving her Business Administration degree in 1987. She received 2nd Team All-American Honor for Basketball while attending Southwestern Community College. She entered the work force for a short time before attending Hamilton Business College pursuing training to be a travel agent graduating in 1993.
Desiree was united in marriage on August 31, 1996, to Charles H. Abell III at the United Methodist Church in Macksburg. They settled in the Macksburg and Orient areas. Desiree worked as a jailer and dispatcher for the Madison County for a short time. She later worked at the Greater Regional Medical Center in the Physical Therapy Department as a secretary. In 2007, Desiree took over Greenfield Redemption, owning and operating the business until 2014 when she became a full time Homemaker.
Desiree is survived by her husband Charlie of Orient; mother, Wilma Perrin of Orient and sister Robin (Pat) Sevier of Orient and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Robert Perrin in 2000.
