Velma Edwards, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. J. J. Edwards of Macksburg, died at the University hospital in Iowa City Tuesday morning after a long illness. The child was 13 years of age and had been ill with rheumatic fever since March.

She is survived by her parents, her twin brother, Victor, and two sisters, Mrs. Ed Porter and Esther Edwards, all of Macksburg, and a brother, Forest, of Canada.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock at the Macksburg Methodist church with burial at Macksburg.

Funeral services for Velma Edwards were held from the Macksburg Methodist church Thursday, Sept. 11 at two o'clock in charge of the Rev. B. R. Westman. Internment was made in the Moon cemetery.

Velma Irene Edwards, daughter of Joshua and Bertha Edwards, was born March 26, 1928 at Esteran, Saskatchewan, Canada, and passed from this life September 9, 1941 at the hospital in Iowa City after a six months illness, at the age of 13 years, 3 months and 14 days.

At the age of five she came with her parents to Macksburg. She entered school at Macksburg that December and completed her eighth grade work there last May.

She accepted Christ a her Savior and was baptized and united with the Methodist church of Macksburg in May, 1940. Her sincere faith was revealed in her peacefulness in facing death.

She leaves to mourn her passing her mother and father, her twin brother, Victor, two other brothers, Forest, of Saskatchewan, Canada and Gail at home, two sisters, Lola Porter of Macksburg, and Esther, at home, one niece, Margaret Ann Porter, one sister-in-law, Agnes Edwards, one brother-in-law, Edd Porter, her grandfather and grandmother, William and Rebecca Edwards, of Harrisonville, Missouri and a number of aunts and uncles, and other relatives and many friends.
