Jordan Kent Payne, 39, of Winterset, passed away unexpectedly at Madison County Memorial Hospital on June 12, 2020. Jordan was born April 29, 1981, in Winterset, Iowa, to Kent and Leslie Payne.

Jordan was a 1999 graduate of Winterset High School. Following graduation he worked at Circle B Cashway in Winterset and Consumer Lumber in Des Moines. He and his father went into business and started Payne Building Systems. They specialized in building assisted living homes and nursing homes. Jordan was active in 4-H in his younger years. His grandfather Kenneth Payne gave him his first heifer named “Star”. He played baseball when in school. What he loved the most was his Green Bay Packers.

Jordan married Hayley Marsh of Cedar Rapids. With this union came stepson, Colt, and then two sons were born, Mason and Cooper. From a previous relationship (Elizabeth Phelps-Waigand) a son, Brodrick, of Creston was born. Jordan’s sons were his life and he was meant to be a dad.
