Funeral services were held Tuesday at the St. Ansgar Methodist church for Arch Goff, a resident of the St. Ansgar community since 1939, who died at his home there Sunday. He had been in poor health for two years.
The Rev. Richard L. Pearson was in charge of the services, with burial in the cemetery in Winterset.
James Arch Goff was born in Madison county, January 8, 1882, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Goff. He spent his early years near Winterset, moving to Blackton in 1917. Later he lived in Polk City, coming to St. Ansgar 18 years ago.
He was employed at the sale barn in St. Ansgar for many years until ill health forced his retirement. He farmed most of his life until taking work at the sale barn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Corbet Monroe.
