Page 4, Column 4Died, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Phoebe Martin, Mrs. Catharine Halliwell, September 10th. Mrs. Halliwell was born in Montgomery county, Penn. May 4, 1802. Her early life was spent in Ohio.
In 1821 she married Mr. David Holliwell, who she came with to Iowa in 1854 and to Madison county in 1867. Since her husbands death which occurred 10 years or more ago, she made her home with her children.
The record of her life may be short with little or nothing of historic greatness, but in the heart of those who knew her best there will ever be this testimony, she was a faithful christian, a devoted wife, a loved and honored mother, a kind and respected neighbor. She leaves six children, thirty-four grand children, sixty-one great grand children and one great [great] grand child.
