Page 1, Column 4Stella Ella Skinner, daughter of Hiram and Margaret Skinner, was born in Louisa county near Columbus Junction, Iowa, March 28, 1878 and departed from this life October 11, 1974 at the age of 96 years, 6 months and 14 days.
At a young age she came with her parents in a covered wagon to Adair county and the Stuart community.
November 20, 1901, she was united in marriage to Albert Wetrich. Eight children were born to this union. Two of them Margaret and Glenn preceded her in death, also her parents, one sister and one brother.
Her married life was spent on farms in the vicinity of Dexter and Stuart. Later she moved to Dexter where she made her home and worked in several places of business. She loved her family, friends and caring for her garden, especially her flowers.
Her health failed and she entered Maple Lin Manor in Earlham September 21, 1970 where she has lived for the past four years. She enjoyed having people visit her there.
When a young girl she was converted, and at the time of her death was a member of the Dexter Methodist church and Golden Age Club which she loved to attend as long as she was able.
She leaves to mourn her passing six daughters: Fern Comb and Ora Garnett of Des Moines, Lillian Aldrich and Leona Oaks of Earlham, Lula Reeves and Mildred Hronek of Omaha, Nebraska, six grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 27 great great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
Memorial services were held Sunday, October 13, at the Dexter Methodist church with Rev. Robert Farr officiating. Music was furnished by Stanley and Sandra Marquardt accompanied at the organ by Robert Lawson. Casket bearers were Jim Combs, John Combs, Carroll Cushman, Jim Adkins, Bob Creager and Arvid Love. She was laid to rest in the Dexter Cemetery.
