Helen Maxine Mount died Nov. 18, 1976 at Madison County Memorial Hospital, at the age of 63.
She was born June 19, 1913 at Dexter, Iowa the daughter of Arthur C. Mount and Elfie Fairholm Mount. Maxine was stricken with polio when she was eight years old.
She graduated from Dexter High School in 1934 with a scholarship to Drake University.
Later, she graduated from the Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines. Following graduation, she was employed several years with the Des Moines Credit Association. Later she worked at the Iowa Rehabilitation Center. She came to Winterset when the Madison County Memorial Hospital opened and was employed there until her health failed in 1973. In addition to her regular work in the office at the hospital, she completed a correspondence course and earned her R.A. as Record Librarian Supervisor.
She was hospitalized March 31, 1976 and was bedfast at home and in the hospital from that time until her death.
She leaves one brother, Dale Fairholm Mount of LeSeuer, Minnesota and two sisters, Betty Putney of Des Moines and Dorothy Hennen of Phoenix, Arizona and several nieces and nephews. Also Dale and Dora Callison of Winterset with whom she had lived 40 years.
Services were conducted by Rev. Paul Bousfield Monday, November 22, at two o’clock at Collins Funeral Home, with interment at Dexter.
