Mrs. James Purkey

Mrs. James (Ethel) Purkey, 70, of Browns Point, died Sunday in a local hospital. Born in Iowa, she came to Tacoma 50 years ago from Salem, Ore.

Mrs. Purkey had lived at Browns Point for more that 30 years. She was a member of the First Methodist Church, The Margaret Blair Health Club and the Browns Point Improvement Club Auxiliary, of which she had been a past president.

Mr. and Mrs. Purkey celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 1.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Lois Robinson of Seattle; a son, Delmar of Tacoma; two sisters, Miss Garnet Clearwater and Mrs. Blanche Wilson of Salem, Ore.; a brother, O. R. Clearwater of Salem; and four grandchildren.
