Oscar D. Hicks, 73, rural route 1, Vinton, died at 6:00 a.m., Thursday morning at his home in Big Grove township.
He was born Oct. 6, 1886, in Madison county, Ia., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Zacharia T. Hicks. He married Hattie Mae Wiley in 1933.
Surviving are his widow, two sons, Oscar W. of Vinton and Franklin D. of Cedar Rapids, a daughter, Mrs. Lyle Schultz of Center Point and three brothers, Baylis Hicks of Sioux City, Ray Hicks of Sioux City, and Victor Hicks of Orchard, Neb.
He was a retired carpenter. He came to Benton county in October, 1958, from Linn county.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at two o’clock in the Fry and Holland funeral home. Rev. Ben W. Sinderson will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
