RAY DARR

Ray Darr, 78, of Hartford, formerly of Des Moines, died of a lung ailment Wednesday at Mercy Hospital after a short illness.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Richardson Funeral Home in Carlisle, with burial in St. Charles Cemetery at St. Charles.

Mr. Darr was born in St. Charles and moved to the Hartford area from Des Moines 30 years ago. He was a retired dairy worker, a member of Union Chapel Church at Winterset and a veteran of World War I.

He is survived by his wife, Muriel; eight sons, Carroll of Portland, Ore., Elmer and Robert, both of Hartford; Victor of New Hampton, Donald of Tucson, Ariz., Ray of Indianola and David and Harry, both of Anaheim, Calif.; five daughters, Mrs. Vi Thompson of Hartford, Mrs. Dorothy Thompson of Elkhart, Mrs. Georgia Evans of Des Moines, Mrs. Betty Harrington of Buena Park, Calif., and Mrs. Colleen Thompson of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Carl Rogers and two half-sisters, Mrs. Lucy Salyers and Mrs. Sarah Collins, all of Des Moines; 47 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
