Joseph Franklin Clark

Joseph Franklin Clark was born in New Hampshire, March 2, 1843, and died at the home of his son, Floyd, in Winterset, Iowa, November 3, 1924, at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 1 day.

He with his parents came to Illinois and later to Iowa in an early day. He was married to Miss Addie Foster, November 2, 1870, who died August 23, 1879. To this union were born three children, Mrs. Cora Luddington, of Waynoka, Oklahoma; Floyd J. Clark of Winterset, Iowa, and Mrs. Emma Prouty, who died September 21, 1909.

He leaves to mourn beside his son and daughter, one brother, E. E. Clark, of Pomona, California; seven living grandchildren and four great grandchildren and many loving friends.

Mr. Clark was a man who took great interest in home and civic affairs, being a great reader, broad minded and equal to life’s problems. His last days were full of patient suffering which he bore with the greatest fortitude and patience. He expressed himself as ready to go.

The funeral services were held at the United Brethren church near Adel, Iowa, where he was laid to rest in the Panther Creek cemetery beside the sleeping body of his wife, November 6, 1924. The services were conducted by Rev. D. J. Shenton, pastor of the M. E. church of Winterset, Iowa.
