Frank Tibben, 75, of Winterset, died Friday, April 3, 2020 at his winter home in Yuma, AZ.

Frank Charles Tibben was born May 11, 1944 in Oakland, CA to Merlin Edwin and Caroline (Riccio) Tibben. He graduated in 1962 from Valley High School, West Des Moines, IA. He married Marilyn Sue Speer on September 25, 1966 in Winterset, Iowa.

He was a retired farmer, having farmed in the Patterson area before purchasing a farm southwest of Truro in 1972 where they lived until November 2018 when they moved to Winterset. He served on the boards of the Winterset Farmers Coop, Madison County Pork Producers and Madison County Cattlemens Association. He and Marilyn enjoyed traveling in their RV and dancing. He also loved riding his motorcycle many miles in the mountains and deserts. He never met anyone he didn’t know and always had a smile on his face.

Frank is survived by his wife, Marilyn Tibben; children, Chuck (Kim) Tibben of St. Charles and Julie (Richard) Taylor of Earlham; grandsons, Jacob Taylor of Covina, CA and Garret Taylor of Ames, IA; sisters, Kathleen (John) L’Estrange and Yolonda Mills; brother, Merlin Edwin Tibben, Jr.; brother-in-law, Wayne Speer; sister-in-law, Joyce Koehler; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by infant son, David Scott Tibben, his parents, his parents-in-law Ernest and Mina Speer, brothers-in-law, Michael Koehler and Bruce Mills and sister-in-law, LaDonna Speer.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, 2020, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. Burial of the urn will take place in the Montpelier Cemetery on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 11 a.m. A live stream will be available on Frank’s tribute wall at caldwellparrish.com. Memorials may be directed to Friends of the Winterset Public Library and Friends Iowa PBS Foundation.
