Winterset—A graveside service for Harvey Chance, 61, of Winterset was held May 29, 1990 at the Panther Creek Cemetery near Adel. Mr. Chance died of a respiratory ailment on May 25 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital at Des Moines.

He was born near Adel on April 16, 1929, and had lived in Winterset for two years. He spent most of his life in the Adel area, but had also lived in the Roland and Grimes communities. Prior to his retirement, he was an electrician for Beaver Valley Canning Factory at Grimes. He was a member of the Iowa Fireman’s Association and Iowa Farm Bureau.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; two daughters, Pam Chance of Dallas Center and Terry Beam of Adel; a son, Gary of Portage, Maine; a step-son, Jay Doran of Winterset; a step-daughter, Barbara Arnedt of Thornsburg, Ohio; three brothers, Bob of Adel, George of Des Moines and Jack of Redfield; and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Harvey Chance Memorial Fund.
