C. E. KLINGENSMITH DIES IN PORTLAND

Member of an Old Madison County Family. Connected With Police Department in Portland.

C. E. Klingensmith, whose home has been in Oregon the last thirty years, died in Portland Saturday. Mr. Klingensmith was assistant to the Portland chief of police and had been with the department since 1912. He was a Spanish American war veteran.

Mr. Klingensmith was a member of an old Madison county family. He was born in Winterset on August 7th, 1876. His father died when his son was a little boy and Mrs. Klingensmith soon after moved to Monroe, Oregon.

Inspector Klingensmith is survived by his widow, a daughter, Mrs. C. C. Coleman; a son, James Klingensmith; four half-brothers, W. R., Harold L., Edward and Lloyd Stiles, and his mother, Mrs. M. Stiles, all of Portland.

He was a member of Scout Young camp, Spanish War Veterans; of the Masons, the Scottish Rite and the Shrine.
