Delmer M. Rogers

Delmer McMaines Rogers, age, 80, went to his heavenly home, July 7, 1999. He was a native of Iowa and son of the late James and Fern Rogers. Delmer was a retired 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy and the FAA as an air traffic controller.

Delmer was a member of Union Baptist Church. In serving his Lord, Delmer and his wife were voluntary missionaries in Africa totaling four years. Also a member of the Achilles Masonic Lodge No. 281, A.F.&A.M., Newport News Consistory, Tidewater Shrine Club, Fleet Reserve Association, Literacy Volunteers of American and volunteered at Achilles Elementary School.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Dorothy "Dot" Rogers; one daughter, Jacqueline Anne Rogers King; two sons, Larry Neal Rogers and G. Kenneth Rogers; eight grandchildren.

Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Dave Holladay and the Rev. Paul Moore, will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Union Baptist Church, Achilles. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today at 7889 Sunset Drive.
