Earlham—Marie Josephine Tasler, 97, of Earlham, died of respiratory failure, Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000 at USA Healthcare Center in Earlham.

Services were Jan. 27, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jamaica, with burial at Brethren Cemetery in Panora.

Marie Tasler was born Sept. 8, 1902 in Greene County near Churdan to Joseph and Christina Vogel Tasler. She grew up in Greene County near Churdan, and attended country school. She was united in marriage to Leo William Tasler on Jan. 23, 1923. She was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jamaica and the Altar Rosary Society.

She continued to make her home on the farm near Yale following her husband’s death in 1977. Due to her failing health, she moved to the USA Healthcare Center in Earlham in 1996.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Leo; two sisters, Christine Hummel and Ann Brend; and three brothers, Joe, Rudy, and Anthony Tasler.

Survivors include her daughter, Darlyne Quick of Yale, four grandchildren, Mark Rilea and his wife, Wanda, of Altoona; Rick Rilea and his wife, Rita, of Stuart, Michelle Willenborg and her husband, Dave, of Elkhorn, Neb., and Dana Millaway and her husband, Doug, of Avon, Minn., 21 great-grandchildren; and 24 great great-grandchildren.

Other survivors include three sisters, Helen Minnehan of Jefferson; Elsie Brend of Churdan, and Bertha Soy of Lohrville, one sister-in-law, Clara Tasler of Jefferson, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
