Gerald German, retiree of Fawn Engineering in Des Moines, died Friday, October 21, 2005. No services are planned per his wishes. Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown is handling the arrangements.

GERALD GERMAN
Melrose

Gerald German, 84, of Melrose, Iowa, died late Friday night, October 21, at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

With respect to his wishes, no services will be held at this time. Cremation rites have been held. Memorials in his name may be directed to the family at 1506 Kalsem Blvd. in Marshalltown, 50158. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown is caring for Gerald and his family.

Born on September 23, 1921 in Lucas County, Iowa, he was the son of Earl and Ila (Howard) German. He received his education in the area of his birth, and graduated from the Chariton High School's Class of 1939. Gerald then attended college in Lansing, Michigan. After that time, he entered the United States Army Air Corps and served proudly for three years, three months and three days.

On March 11, 1943, he was united in marriage to May Adams in Lubbock, Texas. They made their home in Patterson, Iowa many years. He was a painter and a supervisor, and retired from Fawn Engineering in Des Moines. They made their home in summer months in Melrose, Iowa and in the winter in Arizona. He will be fondly remembered for his love of family, camping and his genuine love for everyone. He will be greatly missed by many.

Left to mourn his loss are his loving wife of 62 years, May; his six children: Gary (Kandy) German of Pensacola, FL, Maxine (Richard) Enniss of Rock Hill, SC, Don (Sue) German of Peru, IA, Dave (Sharon) German of Ames, IA, Linda (Gordon) Krutsinger of Chariton, IA and Ginger (Steve) Jacobson of Marshalltown; six grandchildren, three great-grandsons; his sisters, Reta Gould of Las Vegas, Veta Bowman of Carthage, TN, and brother, Bill (Brenda) German of Minburn, IA.

In death, he has rejoined his parents, his granddaughter, Michelle German, sister, Nona Cavett and brothers, Dick and Bob German.
