David Siddens

David Siddens, age 62, passed peacefully at his home in Lincoln Township on Thursday, March 5th, 2020; the Lord called his working man home.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held on Monday, March 16th, 2020, at 10:30 a.m., at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Rev. Jim Morris will officiate. Private burial at a later date.

Visitation will precede the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. Monday at Powers Funeral Home in Creston.

In lieu of flowers, suggested memorials are to Creston First Responders EMT Unit or Union County Friends of 4-H. Online condolences can be made at powersfh.com.

David Vernon Siddens, the son of Carl and Janet Louise (Green) Siddens, was born in Winterset, Iowa, on September 4, 1957, and attended school in Winterset. He worked on a ranch and farms in Union County. While attending Southwestern Community College, Dave became a certified EMT while he earned an Associate of Arts Degree. After graduating from SWCC, David traveled repairing temperature control systems for grain elevators and then began his career with DeBruce Grain, now Gavilon Grain. More recently, he was the Operations Team Coordinator for Gavilon.

On September 2nd, 1977, David was united in marriage with Diane Webb, in Maryville, Missouri. They raised two children on a farm in Lincoln Township. The family enjoyed fishing, camping, and farm life.

As time allowed, David went hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed cooking and grilling outdoors. He liked to overhaul tractors and rebuild truck and car engines. Gardening and canning were his favorite pastimes. Dave and Diane looked forward to their annual camping trips at Lake Icaria.

David was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Lyle and Ruby Green; Vernon and Velma Siddens; stepfather Floyd Dudney; stepmother Eileen Siddens; in-laws Lloyd and Anita Webb; sister-in-law Donna Dudney; and nephew Shawn Dudney.

Left to honor David’s memory are his wife Diane; son Monte of Tecumseh, Nebraska; daughter Melinda (Eric) Foland of Afton; grandchildren Trevor Henry (girlfriend Katelinn) of Mt. Ayr; and Daniel Giles of Afton; brothers Gary Dudney of Lorimor; Dave Dudney (Nina) of Lorimor; Don Siddens of Creston; sisters Shirley (Larry) Kilpatrick of Lorimor; Sharon (Mike) Ambrose of Kent; Carolyn (Chuck) DeBord of Macksburg; Karen (Jim) Decker of Lorimor; and many nieces and nephews; brother- and sisters-in-law Rozlin (Joe) Selveen of San Diego, California; Kathy Webb (Chris) of Jericho, Vermont; Linda Buxton of rural Creston, nephew Levi Buxton of rural Creston; niece Janelle Buxton of Polk City; and other relatives and friends.
