Henry Ernest Rehbein, son of Charles and Augusta Walters Rehbein, was born on December 1, 1882, near Booneville and was called from this life on Monday, April 18th, at the age of 94 years, 4 months, and 17 days. His death occurred in the Dowell Manor Nursing Home where he had been a patient for the past six years.

He was baptized in the Lutheran Church. In his youth he became a communicant member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Van Meter, through the rite of confirmation and remained a faithful member until his death. In his earlier life he served as an elder of the congregation.

On January 20, 1914, he married Laura Eichner. They were the parents of eight children.

In his active years he farmed near Booneville.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife; one daughter, Alma Marie McClelland, and one son, Charles Leo, who was killed in World War II; four sisters, Augusta Samuel, Marie Lienemann, Bertha Goodall, and Emma Searle; and two brothers, Fred and Herman.

He is survived by six children, Pauline Erickson of Des Moines, Frieda Jensen and Irene Koch of Van Meter, George of Waukee, Herbert of Van Meter, and Larry of West Des Moines; 17 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 1 sister, Hattie Lundin of El Cajon, California; 1 brother, Walter of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 20, at 2 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Van Meter, with Rev. E. A. Breiholz, officiating. Pallbearers were Wilbur Jensen, William Jensen, Carl Kamm, Michael Koch, David Rehbein and Leo Rehbein. Burial was at the Lutheran Cemetery.
